Oh, so behind

We have been without internet services for several days so I'm waaaay behind.  I'll try to catch up by doing 2 days in a day.  Today is July 21, 2010.

We spent the day in Frankenmuth, Michigan.  Very pretty town settled by Frankonians in 1845.  Franconia is now Bavaria.

And there we are, in front of a fountain.

I loved the architecture, and I found a couple of quilt shops.

They had some of these horse & carriages giving tours of the town.

If you look closely at these flowers, it's a chicken.  This was in front of a chicken restaurant.  The white flowers are the head and back, you can't see the yellow beak.  The red is the wing and the tail feathers are ornamental grass, it was really neat.

The sky that night was absolutely beautiful.

Still in NY

We had a few more things we wanted to see in town today, so the 4 of us headed out, Paul, Joyce, Don & I.  Our first stop was the Fisher Price museum.  Unfortunatley only the store was opened, the museum closed this past May.

Then we went to a bicycle museum, but the building was for sale and closed.

Our next stop was the Buffalo Bills Stadium, and that was closed because of renovations.
Not good luck at all, but we laughed so much, our bellies were sore.

Evangola State Park, New York

We went to Eden, N.Y. to visit the Kazoo factory.  It was interesting because the machines are still the original machines since it opened in 1916.  Whenever they need parts to repair them, they have to be special made.

It's even the original building.

When we got back to the campsite, we took the dog for a walk to the lake, Lake Erie, I think Bruno told you about that yesterday.

The sun was going down, close to 9:00, giving the sky a wonderful glow.  (That's Don)

Here's the sun, almost gone.  It was red like that every night.

Bruno's Surprise

After we left the rally on the Hudson River we drove quite a while, then Daddy stopped at a rest stop, he said he had a surprise.  We waited, and I watched......

Then a motor home drove in alot like ours, oh my, it was Uncle Paul and Auntie Joyce and their new puppy Casey.  The last time I saw her she was only 12 weeks old and we had so much fun, now she's 4 months old.  WOW, has she grown, but we remembered each other.

We played........

...and played...til we were both tuckered out.

We went to a campground on Lake Erie, mighty big lake.  I really like the water but I was a little scared of the waves coming in.

But I knew my Daddy wouldn't let me get hurt so I went in, and really liked it.

I got really wet and when I got out, I rolled all over the sand, Mama was laughing so hard, so couldn't take a picture.  Daddy made me go back in so he could wash me.

Then he kept my leash very short until we got off the beach.
I've learned two things on this trip.  Everytime Daddy stops the motor home and Mama opens the door, there's a new adventure out there.  The second thing I learned is that the better I listen when they say "come" or "go home", the more they let me be untied when we're all together.  That is really cool!

Fireworks

We've been without cell or internet service for 4 days, so I have some catching up to do.  July 4 we took the pontoon boat up the Hudson River to the Champlain Canal to see the fireworks.  Here we are in the lock waiting for the water to go down.

As you can see, it's gone down quite a bit.

While we were waiting, our hostess took a bucket, leaned over and filled it with water, than put some dish soap in it.  I couldn't figure out what she was doing.  She took out this contraption with 2 sticks and strings and made  these huge bubbles.

There she is, but you can't see the strings.  The lock opened and away we went.

I had a link for information on the Erie Canal yesterday, here's one for the Champlain Canal.

This was just before one of the locks to the Erie Canal.

The fireworks were absolutely beautiful over the water.

I've never seen such a display.

This was ones of those low ones, right off the barge.

On the way back home, there were 6 boats in the lock.

Then we all sat around the campfire.

Waterford, New York

We went for a ride to Waterford, N.Y., just a few minutes away.  They were having s farmers' market this week end.  This is located at one of the locks on the Erie Canal.  There were a bunch of these small steam boats.

Don't forget, you can click on the pictures to make them bigger and on the blue underlined words for links on the subject.  Just beyond the bridge you can see the closed lock.

This is looking inside the empty lock.  We were lucky, as we were looking around, a boat called in to have the lock opened.

See the gates open.

The boat is in and the gates close.

Now the lock starts to fill up, it's about half full here.

Now its full.

And the gates at the other end open.

Now the boat can go on it's merry way.

It was a very hot day, Don & Bruno had to go find some shade, John, the friend we visited in Yuma, Arizona, found them.

Here's the barge they're loading with fireworks for tomorrow.

Rally

Bennington, Vermont, this is the Bennington Battle Monument.

By late morning we were at the Family Motor Coach Assoc. rally in Mechanicville, N.Y.  It's being held at a member's large piece of property on the Hudson River.  It is absolutely beautiful.  Check out the ducks.

We even had entertainment tonight, a bluegrass band.

And of course everybody LOVES Bruno.

On the Road Again

Yeah....we are on the road again.  We left Minot, Maine at 12:45 headed for Minot, North Dakota.

We went through New Hampshire to Vermont.

The mountains are absolutely beautiful.

We are in Bennington, headed to Waterford, New York for a week-end "Bussin Buddies" rally, a chapter of Family Motor Coach Association.
And of course Bruno was happy to be back on the road too.  Once we started packing it, he would not leave it unless we were both outside.  There was no way he was going to let us leave without him.
