Waterford, New York

We went for a ride to Waterford, N.Y., just a few minutes away.  They were having s farmers' market this week end.  This is located at one of the locks on the Erie Canal.  There were a bunch of these small steam boats.

Don't forget, you can click on the pictures to make them bigger and on the blue underlined words for links on the subject.  Just beyond the bridge you can see the closed lock.

This is looking inside the empty lock.  We were lucky, as we were looking around, a boat called in to have the lock opened.

See the gates open.

The boat is in and the gates close.

Now the lock starts to fill up, it's about half full here.

Now its full.

And the gates at the other end open.

Now the boat can go on it's merry way.

It was a very hot day, Don & Bruno had to go find some shade, John, the friend we visited in Yuma, Arizona, found them.

Here's the barge they're loading with fireworks for tomorrow.
