Wounded Knee, SD

We went to Wounded Knee, South Dakota to see the sight of the Indian massacre in 1890.  Soldiers were escorting Indians here and when they went to disarm them, a gun accidently went off.  The Calvary opened fire and killed about 300 men, women and children.  There was a 3 day blizzard beginning that night and the bodies froze. This is the museum at the top of the hill where the soldiers fired from..

This is the grave yard where Indians were burried up until about 20 years ago.

This is the mass grave where they burried the Indians from the massacre.

On the way back, I spotted these teepees, I love teepees.

More shots of the rock formations.

It was all just so awesome, what a beautiful country we live in and how lucky I am to be able to see it.
