Yellowstone Park - day 1

We're finally here.  We entered the West gate.

The landscape is absolutely beautiful.  Every corner you turn is another surprise.

I was leaning to the left on this turn, look at how the road is suspended over the edge of the mountain.

Then we reached this area where it was all huge boulders.

Then there were the plains.

This is not snow, its calcium carbonate.  Its part of the Mammoth Hot Springs Terrace.

Makes you want to take out the snow plow.

This was very interesting, click on it to enlarge.

This is the Orange Spring Mound.  There's water coming out in several locations.

The colors are awesome.  That's water perculating from the top.

When we got to town, there were elk everywhere and rangers making sure no one got near them.

They probably don't need lawn mowers, just poop scoopers.

Here was our campsite at Mammoth Campground, we're the ones in the middle.
